2 July 2017, Green Gardens Trail, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland

We hiked the Green Gardens trail in the southwestern part of the Park.  It was very windy but did not start raining until we had finished.

This road had really paid off with several Mourning Warblers.  I managed to record them before the stormy weather moved in.  Here are some photos of breeding territories and habitat.  It is probably the last day I will ever do field work in Newfoudland.

It was a great day near Port Saunders.  The highlight was some foraging by Pine Grosbeaks beside recording some Mourning Warblers.  I camped out near Daniel’s Harbour tonight and managed to have some amazing luck.  There were several warblers singing alongside and off the main road.  Here are some highlights from Daniel’s Harbour.  I did manage to get some video of 2 male Pine Grosbeaks foraging together.

I had a fantastic morning with a very cooperative weather pattern.  I completed the playback experiments for Newfoundland and headed to Port Saunders.  I just recorded some birds in Port Saunders this morning and am now in for some rest and relaxation after 7 days in the bush.

Another bad start to the day with rain and wind making it difficult to do any research.  It eventually turned sunny and I managed to get some more playback experiments completed.  I managed to find this Moose alongside Rte. 432.
